Description: Genomic offset measures population vulnerability to new environmental conditions. Definition: Probability of two alleles in an individual being identical by descent

Description: Inbreeding is the production of offspring from the mating or breeding of individuals that are closely related genetically. The degree of inbreeding can be measured using a calculation called the inbreeding coefficient. This calculates the probability that two copies of a gene variant have been inherited from an ancestor common to both the mother and the father. Description: The relative soil water content in the rooting zone is a key indicator of drought. In particular, when the standardised value falls below the threshold of 0.4, trees have been shown to respond by limiting fluxes and losing turgor. The SurEau and Medfate models were used to calculate the daily water content and extract the annual number of days when the Relative Extractable soil Water (i.e. water available for the trees) was below the threshold of 0.4, then the annual average of the metric was taken to indicate the water deficit.

Definition: Simulated loss of hydraulic conductance

Description: The risk of tree desiccation during drought is related to the hydraulic failure which refers to the trees losing their ability to transport water during extreme drought. This phenomenon occurs during extreme drought due to xylem embolism (obstruction by air due to cavitation) and can trigger the complete death of the tree. Here, this risk is taken as the yearly maximum percent loss of hydraulic conductance of the plant (between 0 and 100 %). The closer to 100 the higher the risk. In general we assume that conifers die at 50% loss of hydraulic conductance whereas angioperms die at 90% loss of hydraulic conductance.

Description: The simulated fraction of leaf buds killed by one or more frost events during the year. The vulnerability of buds to late frosts depends on the stage of bud development. We use CASTANEA to model the process of breaking dormancy, during which this vulnerability increases. The damage is then calculated by crossing the vulnerability of the buds and the minimum temperatures.

Definition: The simulated GCU's canopy fuel moisture content which is a key driver of fire ignition and spread if there is an ignition source

Description: Vulnerability to wildfire refers to the probability that a GCU will dry out in such a way that the probability of fire increases, if there is ignition and the wind speed is significant. This vulnerability is approximated by the modelled moisture content (g of water /g of leaf dry matter) of the canopy leaves of the GCU using the SurEau model. When the canopy moisture content reaches values below 66% the risk of flammability drastically increases. Here we provide yearly minimum values of fuel moisture content. These values depend on the physiological characteristics of the trees and the climatic drynesss of the year which are all counted for by the SurEau model.
